Dear All
Pakistan dietary guidelines for nutrition (PDGN2018) were launched in December 2018
Unfortunately, serious concerns were raised about accuracy and suitability of PDGN even before and at the time of its launch. A thorough review of the document indicated gross discrepancies among the concepts considered evidence-based by the authors of PDGN and most other nutritionist working in Pakistan. In response to concerns raised by members of the working group of PDGN during the launch, the revision was assured and is underway. However, in order to prevent the recurrence of a similar situation consensus in our views is required.
For the future of nutritional status of Pakistanis and for the future of the field of Nutrition in Pakistan integration of point of view of various stakeholders and technical experts is essential and your views about PDGN 2018 could help in achieving this aim. To collect and collate point of view of all the willing nutritionist I have designed a short survey that can help in unifying us in our views. I am giving my perceptions and observation below and am inviting others to share theirs by filling the survey or by any other means if they do not feel comfortable with an online survey.
Concerned Nutrition stakeholders interested in public harm can share their views by filling the survey https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/PDGN2018
Concerned Nutrition stakeholders from any country are requested to share their views about the role of FAO document via this link https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/FAOC
A copy of PDGN with issue marked can be downloaded via this link PDGN2018 WITH RH COMMENTS and for the document containing a summary of observation click PDGN 2018 IMPACT ASSESSMENT BY RH
Your responses will not only help in harmonizing the efforts being made to revise the PDGN 2008 but will also in bridging the gaps if any, among nutritionist of varying backgrounds.
Your views are precious!
Thanks and kind regards
